Major updates to “The Tuley Family Roots and Branches” web site
8 September 2009 by Glenn Tuley.
I just finished updating the web site to my new format. The shortcut to it is
http://www.tuley.us/Roots/Home.html
The old format is still at http://www.tuley.us/roots.htm, but I am not going to update it and will eventually phase it out.

I have joined Genealogy Wise.
18 July 2009 by Glenn Tuley.
On the recommendation of a trusted genealogist friend, I have joined Genealogy Wise which is a new web site created by some people who left Ancestry.com, because they didn’t like some of their practices, like reselling data and censoring criticism.
I’ll add some further comments over time, but so far my experience at Genealogy Wise has been positive.

Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London’s Criminal Court, 1674-1913
13 January 2009 by Glenn Tuley.
It appears the Tuley’s in London from 1674-1913 did not get into trouble with the law very often. A search for “Tuley” gets 5 results.
Old Bailey Online ‘Tuley’ search
1. John Tuley served on a jury in 1688.
2. Thomas Tuley had his name mention as the source of some money that was later stolen in 1768.
3. James Tuley was a witness in a trial in 1876.
4. George Tuley was a witness in a trial in 1896.
5. Walter Tuley was convicted of robbery and sentenced to 6 months hard labor in 1909.

The generation or two before John Tuley and Sarah New
18 January 2008 by Glenn Tuley.
I could not figure how to move Charlie Tooley’s excellent post to the top level so here is a link.
http://tuleyroots.tuley.us/2008/01/08/the-lost-colony-genealogy-dna-research-group/#comments
Several of the lines on http://www.tuley.us/roots.htm obviously have a predecessor other than John and Sarah. Charlie mentions two possibilities, but interestingly, most Tuley lines have a family legend of three brothers coming over together and then splitting up (details vary).

The Lost Colony Genealogy & DNA Research Group
8 January 2008 by Glenn Tuley.
Lately, I have been focusing on the North Carolina lines lately since being involved with The Lost Colony Genealogy & DNA Research Group. Tuley is a “surname of interest” because some early marriages with surnames who married surnames of the “Lost” colonists from Roanoke.
So far I have been successful in linking some of the clusters that I previously had, but I have not yet been successful in linking them with the other Tuley lines or back to the “Lost Colony”.
One thing I have done is get more of the little clusters of Tuley’s and Tooley’s on to the front page of the web site to make them easier for people to find and possibly provide the missing links.
